We
built two type of cases with LibMultiScale. The first type intend to
test the influence of the coupling to the atomic domain. The other king
is dedicated to the study of crack propagation.
First of all, we tried to reproduce on simple atomistic potentials the
results given by S. Xiao in the original Bridging Method article. Those
results was a 1 dimentional case where an initial wave was introduced
with a given frequency. Then we let the the wave propagate through the
bridging zone. As an objective measure, we plot the kinetic energy of
the non coupled atomistic zone, checking the amount of energy reflected
by the coupling.
On the cases we are demonstrating here, the waves were simple gaussian
or modulated gaussian as presented on the figure above. The figure
present short videos with different parameters such as finite element
sizes.
